CANDIDATE
ATTORNEYS [CA's]
Each year Venn Nemeth and Hart employs a number
of law graduates as candidate attorneys, who train
under the supervision of our professional staff.
During this 2-year period, the CA's move through
each of the 4 divisions in our firm [litigation,
debt recoveries, property and commercial], to prepare
a strong foundation for their future careers in
law. We believe that a well-rounded and balanced
training programme equips our CA's for the challenges
ahead.
The training of a new recruit is an ongoing process.
On arrival, our CA's enjoy a 4-week induction programme,
getting to know the nuts and bolts of a law firm.
They are introduced to the support staff, the firm's
policies and procedures, our intranet and web services,
and all professional staff and directors. They are
encouraged to interact and socialise with all members
of the firm, and to take as much from the experience
as possible.
During their tenure in each division, each CA will
have a mentor who will guide them through the work
to be done. The emphasis is on practical experience
through consultations with clients, attendances
at court, the Deeds Office and Master's office,
drafting documents and opinions, and carrying out
research.
We also run an in-house lecture programme covering
various topics, which aims to keep our CA's up-to-date
with new developments in the law.
We conduct interviews in April each year on the
Pietermaritzburg and Durban campuses, as well as
at our offices for those prospective candidates
from further afield.
We are looking for HIGHLY COMMITTED, HIGHLY
MOTIVATED TEAM PLAYERS. Do you
fit the bill? If so, apply for articles
by contacting
us.
